Platforms compared
One account and the same data everywhere, but each platform has its own install, updates, payment and a few limits. Nothing below is something you pay for: every plan is the whole app. The feature table is on Install it.

Android phones and tablets
Section titled “Android phones and tablets”- Android 8.0 or newer. From Google Play, or without Play from the file at
zssoftware.eu/tv-full, see Install it. - No account needed to try it. Sign in with Google (with Google Play), Apple, email or a code.
- Background audio and picture-in-picture, casting to a Chromecast, recording, downloads, multiview, pausing and rewinding live channels with Timeshift, VLC as a second engine.
- Only on Android phones and tablets: sync to your own Google Drive, and setting up wake-up for a television that has no Chromecast built in.
- Reset all data, Delete account and turning on end-to-end encryption are on phones and tablets, Android and Apple, not on televisions and computers.
- A tablet can use the television layout: Settings → Appearance → Layout → TV layout (experimental), and back with Settings → General → Layout.
- The file build pays in the browser instead of Google Play, updates with Install update and has no Google sign-in on a device without Google Play.
Android TV and Google TV
Section titled “Android TV and Google TV”- From Google Play on the device. The same app as on the phone, in the television layout.
- No account needed to try it. Sign in with a code from your phone, Google, Apple (in the browser) or email.
- Recording, downloads, multiview, Timeshift, VLC, colour keys, Remote buttons to choose what each key does, your favourite channels as a row on the Android TV home screen, and Alerts when IPTV Deck is closed for reminders over other apps.
- No casting from the TV, no background audio and no picture-in-picture.
Fire TV
Section titled “Fire TV”- Fire OS 7 or newer, installed with Downloader, code
7083371: Fire TV, step by step. - The same features as Android TV, with three differences: no Google sign-in, no Google Drive, and payment in the browser by QR code instead of Google Play.
- Updates: over the air, and new builds with Install update from version 1.8.2 on.
iPhone and iPad
Section titled “iPhone and iPad”- From the App Store. Sign in first: the trial needs an account here.
- Sign in with Apple, Google, email or a code.
- Picture-in-picture that starts by itself when you leave the app, background audio, AirPlay, casting to a Chromecast, recording, downloads to any folder you pick, including iCloud Drive or a USB drive, sharing a finished download, network folders, multiview.
- VLC as a second engine; with iOS 18 or newer also AetherEngine, see Player.
- Timeshift pauses and rewinds live channels, with version 1.8.6 or newer from the App Store.
- No Google Drive sync.
- An iPad can use the television layout like an Android tablet.
Apple TV
Section titled “Apple TV”- From the App Store on the Apple TV. No account needed to try it.
- Sign in with email or a code from your phone. There is no Google or Apple sign-in on Apple TV: it says Apple TV cannot sign in with Apple — sign in with email, or pair from your phone.
- Recording works while the app is open. Downloads keep going when you leave the app, from version 1.8.6. Both are kept in the Apple TV cache, which Apple TV may clear when it runs low on space. Point them at a network folder for anything you want to keep. A reminder shows only while the app is open.
- Playlists and the guide update in the background whenever tvOS lets the app, from version 1.8.6.
- Multiview, VLC, AetherEngine on tvOS 18 or newer, and the top shelf above the app on the Home screen, with what you were watching, recordings and favourite channels.
- Timeshift pauses and rewinds live channels, with version 1.8.6 or newer from the App Store.
- No casting, no picture-in-picture, no background audio. Trailers open in the YouTube app. The phone remote’s D-pad does not reach an Apple TV.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”- 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, the installer from zssoftware.eu/windows.
- Sign in first, and confirm your email address: Verify your email address.
- Mouse, keyboard and a remote-style layout. Picture-in-picture window, casting to a Chromecast, recording (with Run in the background in Settings → Recordings it records with the window closed, from the notification area), downloads to any folder, multiview, a pinned side menu.
- Record for other devices in Settings → Recordings lets the computer record for the phones and TVs of your account, see A computer that records for your other devices.
- Timeshift pauses and rewinds live channels while the app is open; choose its length and folder in Settings → Player.
- No VLC choice: films play through the built-in engine without a picker.
- Updates: the app checks when it starts and installs new builds itself. No over-the-air updates.
- Pays in the browser.
- No Reset all data or Delete account in the app: use a phone or the account panel.
- macOS 12 or newer, from the Mac App Store.
- Sign in first and confirm your email address. Google sign-in is not offered in the Mac App Store app: use Apple, email or a code.
- The same features as Windows. Run in the background keeps it in the Dock.
- Updates and payment through the Mac App Store and Apple. Your Apple purchase also covers the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV on the same IPTV Deck account.
- 64-bit Linux on a PC, from version 1.8.6: one AppImage file from zssoftware.eu/linux. There is no build for ARM, so no Raspberry Pi. A usual desktop installation needs nothing else.
- Allow the file to run, then open it: in the file manager Properties → Permissions → Allow
executing file as program, or
chmod +x IPTV-Deck-*.AppImagein a terminal, then double-click it. - Sign in first and confirm your email address, as on Windows.
- The same features as Windows, except Run in the background: closing the window quits the app, so a scheduled recording needs the app open. Without it there is no Record for other devices either.
- Updates: the app checks when it starts and replaces the AppImage file itself, in the folder where you keep it. No over-the-air updates.
- Your sign-in and playlists are kept in the system keyring (GNOME Keyring or KWallet) when the desktop has one. Without a keyring the app still remembers them, without that extra encryption.
- Pays in the browser.
When the AppImage does not open
Section titled “When the AppImage does not open”- Nothing happens on a double-click: the file is not allowed to run yet, see above.
- AppImages require FUSE to run, or fusermount: not found: the system has no FUSE, which a
normal desktop installation has. Install the
fuse3package (sudo apt install fuse3on Ubuntu and Debian, sudo dnf install fuse3on Fedora) and open the file again. The olderlibfuse2is not needed. - In a container, WSL or a virtual machine without FUSE, start it as
./IPTV-Deck-*.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run. It unpacks itself on every start, so it opens a little slower.
LG and Samsung TVs
Section titled “LG and Samsung TVs”- From the TV’s own app store: the LG Content Store on an LG TV with webOS, Samsung’s app store on a Samsung TV with Tizen. If your TV’s store does not list IPTV Deck, it is not available for that TV.
- Models from 2021 on. A TV whose browser engine cannot keep the channel library says This TV cannot run IPTV Deck: 2021 and 2022 models work, and so do 2024 and newer, while 2023 models fall in between.
- No account needed to try it. Sign in with email or a code from your phone.
- Nothing is sold on the TV: buy Premium on another device or in the account panel, and the TV picks it up with Refresh subscription.
- Colour keys and Remote buttons, the guide, catch-up and Restart channel. No reminders for guide programmes.
- Samsung TVs record to the TV or a USB drive while IPTV Deck is open. On a channel with catch-up a scheduled programme is saved from your provider’s archive after it airs, the next time the app is open, and a programme that already aired can be saved from catch-up too.
- LG TVs do not record themselves, but they play the recordings of a computer that records for your other devices on the same home network.
- LG TVs have Timeshift, but the TV keeps only a few minutes of the channel in its memory, so it goes back only that far. Samsung TVs do not have Timeshift yet.
- Not on LG and Samsung TVs: downloads, multiview, casting, background audio, picture-in-picture, VLC, Generate from audio. Trailers open outside the app.
- Updates: the app says when a new version exists; it comes from the TV’s store. No over-the-air updates.
Not available
Section titled “Not available”- Roku: there is no IPTV Deck for Roku devices or Roku TVs.
- Hisense and other TVs with VIDAA: no app for VIDAA.
- LG and Samsung TVs from before 2021, and any TV whose store does not list IPTV Deck.
- Fire TV on Fire OS 6 or older, such as the 2018 Fire TV Stick 4K, and the newest sticks on Vega OS, see Devices that cannot run it.
On a TV like that, an Android TV or Fire TV device plugged into an HDMI port runs IPTV Deck with everything above.
