Fire TV will not install

These messages come from Android itself, before any of our code runs, so the app cannot explain them from the inside. Each one has a real cause.

“App not installed”

Three causes cover nearly every case, in this order:

  1. An older copy is still on the device. Android refuses an install that does not match what is already there. Uninstall IPTV Deck if it appears in your apps, then install again.
  2. Too little free space. The install needs about 250 MB free, even though the app takes less afterwards. Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications and remove something you do not use.
  3. A previous download was interrupted. Delete the downloaded file inside Downloader, then fetch it again. A half-downloaded file will never install.

“App install failed”

Almost always free storage. Free about 250 MB and try again.

“There was a problem parsing the package”

It means two different things depending on the device:

  • On Fire OS 7 or newer: the download was cut short. The file should be about 101 MB in Downloader. Delete it there and fetch it again.
  • On Fire OS 5 or 6: the device cannot run the app at all. Downloading it again cannot change that.

Your version is under Settings → My Fire TV → About.

Devices that cannot run it

  • The 2016 Fire TV Stick (Fire OS 5) and the 2018 Fire TV Stick 4K (Fire OS 6). Too old.
  • The 2025 Stick 4K Select and the 2026 Stick HD. These run Vega OS and cannot sideload anything at all, from anyone.

Everything from the 3rd gen Stick (2020) onward works: Stick Lite, Stick 4K Max, Stick 4K (2023), Cube 2nd gen and newer, and Fire TV televisions on Fire OS 7 or 8.

Downloader itself refuses

Check that Install unknown apps is switched on for Downloader: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps.

On some Fire OS versions that toggle is per app and resets after a system update.

Still stuck

  • your device model,
  • your Fire OS version from Settings → My Fire TV → About.

Those three lines resolve nearly every one of these.
