Reminders

Tap the bell on any future programme, in the guide or in search results. The notification arrives with the app closed, and a reminder set on the television reaches your phone on its own.

Settings → Reminders lists everything scheduled and lets you remove them one by one or all at once.

On a television

When the programme starts, the television shows a Starting now panel over whatever is playing. Switch to it, or dismiss it. The player takes every key while it is open, so the panel is caught by the player itself rather than by the screen behind it.

Why a reminder can arrive late on Android

Android 14 and newer do not grant apps the right to set exact alarms by default, and IPTV Deck aims at a recent Android. Without that right the system falls back to a looser alarm: the reminder is not lost, it is held back until the phone wakes up.

The app notices and shows a row titled Reminders arriving late?, with the line Android holds them back unless IPTV Deck may set exact alarms. Tap to open Alarms & reminders and allow it.

To do it by hand: Settings → Apps → IPTV Deck → Alarms & reminders.

Separately, if notifications themselves are off you get: This reminder is saved, but it cannot alert you until notifications are allowed. That is Settings → Apps → IPTV Deck → Notifications.

Force-stopping the app cancels every alarm

Android drops all of an app’s scheduled alarms when you force-stop it, and no code can prevent that or restore them. Open IPTV Deck once afterwards and the reminders are rescheduled.

Reminder or recording?

A reminder nudges you. A recording captures the programme whether you are there or not, but on a channel without an archive it has to capture it live, which means the app must be open at the time. When you schedule one on such a channel, the app says so and offers to set a reminder as well: Schedule + remind me.
