Moving to another device

Setting up a second device should not mean typing a provider password with a remote. It does not.

What travels

A QR pairing carries:

• your playlists, including their provider passwords, encrypted end to end between the two devices,
• which playlists you had open, so the new device opens the same ones rather than guessing,
• your category selections, so the new device downloads the same subset,
• optionally your TMDB and OpenSubtitles sign-ins, sent as a second step.

Everything else (favourites, groups, history, profiles, settings) arrives on its own through sync as soon as both devices are signed in to the same account.

Setting up a new TV

1. On the television, start IPTV Deck. It offers Add a playlist from your phone and shows a QR code.
2. Scan it with the phone that already has everything.
3. The phone asks which playlist to send and what the television should do about categories: Load every category, leave the TV as it is, or pick exactly what it loads.
4. The television signs itself in and starts downloading.

No password is typed on the remote at any point. If you would rather, No phone? Enter details manually is there. A television that is already set up gets the same screen from Settings → Playlists → Add a playlist.

On the phone, scanning the QR code opens the app for you. You can also type the short code under it in Settings → Devices → Connect a device.

Setting up a new phone

The same, the other way round. On the new phone, Add playlist → Get a playlist from another device (or Settings → Devices → Show this device’s code) shows a code, and the old phone or the television enters it under Settings → Devices → Connect a device.

Phone to phone works exactly like phone to television.

Sending again later

Settings → Devices → Your devices, then the send button next to a device that is online. On a television, press OK on the device and choose Send your data. A device that is online can be sent a playlist, your category selections, or your integration sign-ins at any time.

Each send asks what the receiving device should do, and leave it as it is is always an option, so sending a playlist never silently rearranges a television somebody is watching.

Pulling instead of sending

A new device can also pull: Pull your playlists over from a device that already has them. Use that when the new device is the one in your hand and the old one is in another room.

A TV that is asleep

A paired television that is asleep shows a power button, tapping it wakes the box over your own network and waits for it to come up.

If nothing arrives

• Both devices must be signed in to the same account.
• They must be on the same network for waking and for the direct transfer.
• A television that has never opened IPTV Deck cannot be reached: It has never checked in. Open IPTV Deck on the TV — controls light up when it checks in.
