What leaves your device
This page says what happens to your data while you use the app. The legal text is the privacy policy.
What stays on the device
Section titled “What stays on the device”- The catalogue: the channels, films, series and the guide of your playlists. They are downloaded from your provider and stored on the device, never uploaded.
- What you watch goes from your provider to your device directly. It does not pass through us.
- Recordings and downloads, in the folder you picked.
- Provider passwords, unless you turn on Keep my passwords in my account or send them to another device yourself.
What reaches your account
Section titled “What reaches your account”When you are signed in, your account holds your small user data so your other devices can follow: playlist names and addresses, favourites, watchlist, history and positions, groups, profiles and their PINs, settings, and your device list (each device’s name, kind, platform and when it was last seen). The full list is on Your account and sync.
| Your choice | Who can read it in the cloud |
|---|---|
| End-to-end encryption off | We can |
| End-to-end encryption on | Only your devices, see Encryption |
| Keep my passwords in my account on | Provider passwords, MAC addresses and service sign-ins are kept encrypted with our key, so we can read them, also with end-to-end encryption on |
| Sync to your own Google Drive | It sits in your Drive, encrypted end to end |
What gets synced in Settings → Sync leaves whole kinds of data out of your account.
Without an account nothing is synced. The free trial is still counted for the device, by an identifier of the device.
Error reports
Section titled “Error reports”When something goes wrong in the app, it sends an error report to us, so a problem can be found and fixed. A report carries your account, so we can match it to what you write to us, and the app removes provider passwords and logins from the addresses and messages in it. There is no setting to turn it off.
Report a bug sends only what you write and the version lines the app adds, see Reporting a problem.
Outside services you connect
Section titled “Outside services you connect”| Service | What goes there |
|---|---|
| TMDB | Title names and numbers to look up, on your own key |
| Trakt, SIMKL | The films and episodes you watch and rate, from your device to your account there |
| OpenSubtitles | The title you search subtitles for |
| Google Gemini | The subtitle text, or the audio of a downloaded film, when you ask for a translation or subtitles from the audio, under your own key |
| IntroDB, for Skip intro and Up next | The IMDb number of the film or series, and the season and episode |
Nothing goes to a service you have not connected, except IntroDB, which needs no account. When neither TMDB nor Trakt is connected, the app asks our own server which IMDb number belongs to the TMDB number of the film or series, so it can ask IntroDB. Only that number is sent, and the answer is kept for every user.
Questions you type in Settings → Help are sent without your name or email to find and write the answer, see Search the manual.
Deleting it
Section titled “Deleting it”- Settings → Integrations → Disconnect removes a service’s sign-in.
- Reset all data in Settings → Account on a phone clears this device and your cloud copy.
- Delete account deletes the account and everything synced to the cloud, on a phone or in the account panel. See Deleting your account.
- Removing the app removes what is on the device.
