Is Speak It Easy free?
Yes. You get 30 free minutes to start and free minutes every day after that, with no credit card. Premium ($4.99 a month or $29.99 a year) adds extra voice minutes every month and unlimited adventure lessons.
Which languages can I learn?
More than 110, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Korean, and you learn from your own language. The app itself is available in English, Polish, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese.
Do I have to speak, or can I type?
Speaking out loud is the point: hold the button, talk, and Lingo answers with its voice. When you can't talk, you can type your reply instead. Pronunciation feedback, of course, only works when you speak.
How does it correct me?
As you talk, Lingo points out grammar slips, suggests a better way to say it and scores your pronunciation. After the session you get the full transcript, a score, what went well and the one thing to fix next time.
What happens to my voice and data?
Your voice is sent encrypted to Google's Gemini API, which turns speech into text, analyzes your pronunciation and generates Lingo's replies. The app asks for your consent before your first conversation. Recordings are not kept on our servers or by Google after processing, and Google does not use them to train AI models. Your progress, words and conversation history stay in your account until you delete it. Details are in the privacy policy.
Can it help me practice for a speaking exam?
Yes, as practice. There is no dedicated exam mode, but in a normal conversation you can ask Lingo to play the examiner, run a role-play or keep asking follow-up questions, the way speaking exams do. It is not an official exam simulator and is not affiliated with any exam board.
How do I cancel Premium?
Premium is a regular App Store or Google Play subscription, so you cancel it in your store's subscription settings: on iPhone go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android open Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Premium stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
